Where they actually come from
Let me kill the main illusion: people don't arrive on their own. Ever. Not even to an excellent product.
Distribution matters more than development now. A good product without promotion is simply invisible - there is physically nobody to find it.
What works when you have zero followers.
Go where people are already suffering from your problem. Not with an advert, with a solution. "I built a thing that does this" in the right chat beats any banner.
Show the process, not only the result. People subscribe to something being built far more readily than to something finished. And by launch day you already have people who care.
Talk to the first ones. Your first ten users are gold. Write to each of them personally and ask what's wrong. They'll tell you things no counter ever will.
Don't give up after one go. One post isn't promotion. Promotion is telling people regularly, in different places.
And keep this in mind: ten people who actually use it are worth more than a thousand who looked and left.
