Starting with the one I use myself, so I'm not pretending to be a neutral reviewer.

Claude is what the site you're reading was built with. All of it, from the first line. I picked it for two things: it holds a long task better than anything else, and it's more honest than the rest. If a task is bad it will say so instead of cheerfully doing it.

There are several models inside for different jobs, and you don't need to study them deeply. The logic is simple: the most powerful for heavy work, mid ones for everyday, fast cheap ones for small stuff. Take whatever it offers by default - it's almost always right.

Worth mentioning Claude Code separately. That's the agent from the last stage: it lives in the terminal, edits files itself and runs commands itself. Looks terrifying for ten minutes, then you can't remember how you lived before. It will also explain how to install it, if you ask.

The downside: pricier than the rest. A normal subscription costs the same as everyone else's, but if you sit in it all day you'll hit limits and want the bigger tier.
