57Mobile
More than half of your visitors arrive on a phone
The most common failing of home-made projects: lovely on a computer, collapsed on a phone.
The reason is that both you and the AI are looking at a big screen. Until you check the small one, you don't know.
What usually breaks: text becomes too small. Tables run off the edge and a horizontal scrollbar appears - a sure sign something is wrong. Buttons get too small to hit with a thumb. The menu covers the content.
How to check without owning ten phones: browsers have a mode that shows the page at phone size. It opens in a couple of clicks; ask the AI to show you how.
A rule worth fixing: check mobile as you go, not at the end. Retrofitting a finished layout onto a small screen is miserable. Checking along the way is easy.
And one frequent source of pain: horizontal scrolling caused by some decoration sticking out past the edge of the screen. If the page can be dragged sideways, something has escaped - go and find the culprit.
