17Tiers: what you actually get
What the 5-10, 20 and 100-200 dollar tiers actually buy
The market has spread out, and there are more tiers now than it looks. Here they are by level.
Cheap entry, five to ten dollars. Plenty of these now: ChatGPT Go for eight, Google AI Plus for five, SuperGrok Lite for ten. Claude has nothing like it: it's free or straight to Pro. Usually the same models, much lower limits. Good for trying it and working out whether this is for you. Cramped for real work.
Standard, around twenty. The tier most people sit on. The price is nearly the same everywhere: twenty for ChatGPT, Claude and Perplexity, a little under twenty for Google. Grok is the odd one out at thirty. Real projects get built on this comfortably.
Heavy, a hundred to two hundred. This is "I work in it all day". The big players usually have two steps here, a hundred and two hundred: more limits, the strongest models and no "come back tomorrow". If you're starting out, this is definitely not for you.
What matters more than price: limits. They, not the feature list, decide whether it feels comfortable. And you can only find that out on your own workload. So the sane strategy is to take the standard tier, work for a week, and see whether you're hitting walls.
Prices checked in October 2026. Look at the site before paying: they change more often than anyone would like.
